It may be the middle of summer, but Christmas is already on my mind. Preparing for the holidays in our community takes time, volunteers, sponsors, and plenty of community spirit. In fact, more than a month ago, people were already asking for this year’s event dates so they could mark their calendars and be sure to attend. We hope everyone is looking forward to another wonderful holiday season with family and friends. We are also working to add a new event this year to make the festivities even more special.
As mentioned, these events take time and volunteers. Whether you help hang Christmas lights, decorate the community, assist with the cart parade, judge events, or support Pet Pic, Kids Krafts, Adult Krafts, the Tree Lighting, or the Boat Decorating Walk, we would be delighted to have you involved. Our community is always generous with its support, and this is your chance to be part of this year’s “Home for the Holidays.” Please contact me if you are willing to volunteer for any of these events. We will also be meeting with local organizations to prepare, and if additional help is needed, we will reach out.
Sponsorship helps make these events possible. Over the years, local businesses and vendors have played an important role, and many of you also expressed interest last year in contributing. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Burnt Store Marina is a giving community, especially during the holiday season, and the support our businesses provide to local causes does not go unnoticed. Home for the Holidays also gives back by supporting the high school band department and the Calendar Girls, whose donations benefit Veterans and Dogs Inc. and help sponsor guide dogs through Southeastern Guide Dogs in Fort Myers. All contributions are deposited into a dedicated account through our management company, Alliant, and are used exclusively for this event.
