Happy New Year! Best wishes to all for a happy and healthy 2025!

As a New Year’s resolution come join new and old friends in a healthy activity and friendly competition. A bocce ball touching the pallino is known as a “baci” or “kiss”. The team is awarded two points if they remain touching at the end of the frame. New friend, Sue McDonald, joined the bocce league, and had the first baci for the season. This gave her team two points to win the game. Jerry Newmin and Rick Bryant also had their first baci of the season. Kiss, Kiss, Kiss!

The first few months of the season have been active. We have had over a dozen people playing each week. Barbie Newmin is the bocce group interim leader, and has instituted a few changes. The group is using the TeamReach app for communications. If you want to be involved and informed (and included in the dinner reservations!) go to the App Store and download the TeamReach app. Please put in both names if you are a couple. Other changes include Dee Pozar as tech support. She will help you join the bocce group using the app. Also on the management team is Teresa Cramer as treasurer, and Jerry New min as the team statistician.

The bocce court is adjacent to the northeast side of the parking lot at Burnt Store Marina Country Club. Play is from 3 to 5 p.m. every Tuesday, followed by dinner at Linkside Café or other local restaurants. Dinner is optional, and you do not have to be a member of Burnt
Store Marina Country Club to play Bocce and have dinner. You will find an enthusiastic group of bocce players every Tuesday. Grab your lawn chair and join the fun. There is a nominal fee of $1 collected each week for maintenance of equipment, and end of season party and prizes.

Our goal is to introduce the joy and competition of Bocce to more people. It is easy to learn, but challenging. Bocce is a wonderful game to stay active socially and physically.

You are welcome to play bocce at your leisure. There is a guest set of bocce balls in the back of the golf cart barn. It is in the unlocked plastic container clearly marked for general use. Please be sure to return the equipment to the cart barn when you are finished playing. So, gather your guests or grandchildren, and spend a couple of hours having some bocce fun!
