SECTION 22 HOA — A LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED WHILE YOU WERE AWAY
This month’s newsletter is directed primarily to the seasonal residents. By the time this article comes out, many of us will be making plans for yet another eventful winter in sunny Florida. The summer, along with the heat, is also a quieter time to allow for projects difficult to accomplish in the prime season.
Below is a partial list of what to look for while we were away; some are highly visible, while others took place quietly behind the scenes. Either way, quite a bit has changed since we left. The author was also away for the summer, and takes no credit for the tremendous accomplishments with these projects.
Completion of the 3-year road repaving project – After three-summers work, Section 22 road renovation project is complete.
The full-time residents can breathe a sigh of relief that there will be no more scraping and re-routing for the road work.
A new well for the irrigation pond – After almost 2 years of planning, scheduling, rescheduling and then finding another contractor, we now have a 800-foot deep well to supply the irrigation pond at Osprey 5.
That well, and the new well for the BSMCC irrigation system, will allow for increased flow and water quality. It represents an important investment in our infrastructure, and in maintaining the landscaping that contributes so much to the appearance of Burnt Store Marina.
New external signage – Mike Lemon is ensuring that our signage is consistent, up to date, and more in line with our community. The former lighthouse signage has been replaced with a new sailboat sign, giving the entrances a fresh look, while continuing to reflect the waterfront lifestyle that defines Burnt Store Marina.
The one caveat to this is that we are going through the permitting process for the new signs, hopefully this horn was not tooted too early.
Fitness Center has a new yoga instructor – So sign up for the classes, and get ready to stretch, strengthen, relax, and perhaps discover muscles you forgot you had!
A new kitchen floor at BSMCC – Maybe not the most exciting event of the summer, but a necessary one over at the Burnt Store Marina Country Club. So that I do not get into trouble, I am not suggesting you go into the kitchen to see it, just trust me!
The men’s restroom at BSMCC – Alyssa has combined the kitchen work with the renovation of the men’s restroom. It will be a welcome change for the better.
A new executive chef – BSMCC has hired a new executive chef, scheduled to start in October. Please be sure to stop in for lunch or dinner and to meet him, and enjoy the menu change.
All of these projects, whether highly visible or quietly accomplished, are part of the ongoing effort to maintain and improve the Burnt Store Marina community. For those who stayed through the summer, it’s fun to see the progress. For those returning now, we hope you’ll enjoy discovering the changes for yourselves.
Most importantly, we’re happy to have our seasonal neighbors back. The return of familiar faces is what truly signals the beginning of another winter season at Burnt Store Marina.
