As the start of a new snowbird season approaches, it’s time to renew memberships and continue enjoying the social and health benefits of the BSM Fitness, Racquet, and Pool Club. From the friendly faces behind the front desk, our incredible instructors, modern equipment, racquet and paddle sports, and pool activities, our center offers everything you need to stay active and fit. Best of all, it’s a wonderful way to connect with friends and neighbors across our community.

You are always welcome to stop by and check out our facilities and class schedules. Our large adjacent pool hosts aquatic exercise classes and lively social events. Relax surrounded by lush landscaping or take a dip in our hot tub. We’ve got tennis, pickleball, and our gym features a full assortment of cardio machines, strength equipment, and free weights to help you meet your fitness goals. While members can access our center from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, we welcome visitors Monday through Friday 7 a.m. – 3 p.m., and Saturday 7 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Our competitive tennis teams are perennial champs across the local leagues, and our pickleballers are consistent winners from Naples north. These vibrant groups are some of our most popular features, as they not only give our members the chance to stay active physically and mentally, but also enjoy friendly competition surrounded by like-minded neighbors. Sound like fun? Stop by the front desk and ask about how to get started.

As we prepare for our fantastic new season ahead, we look forward to welcoming back our seasonal Burnt Store Marina fitness family. With increasing court demand, we are working on ways to get players on the courts as quickly as possible. Starting October 1, all new members interested in playing pickleball will be asked to go to the USA PICKLEBALL website (usapickleball.org/skill-level/) and rate themselves. It only takes about five minutes to answer a dozen questions in the privacy of your own computer.

Using this self-assessment not only helps determine your skill level, but also, helps you find places that may need some drilling. Don’t forget, we have two pros available for group and private lessons. Invest in yourself with a set of lessons or grab a few friends and enjoy personal professional pointers from Ricky Deller, text 941-623-6632, and Marty Pickup, 914-719-2542 | [email protected].

Each year our community celebrates our Veterans and their families during the week of November 7-14. This year, our pickleball players are doing more than appreciating them. In addition to donating to a local Veterans charity, we are planning to use our bulletin board to honor those who served our country.

Did you or a parent, grandparent, spouse or neighbor serve? To honor Veterans week, we are creating a Veterans Board of Honor to celebrate and recognize our many community service members.

We invite you to share:

– Veteran’s name and rank

– Branch of Service and years of service (or which era or conflict)

– A photo of them in uniform – or your favorite

– A brief note about their station or deployment, memory, or connection to you

Please drop this information at the front desk or give it to one of the Pickleball committee members: Peter Feldhusen, Laurie Hillaby, Bob Honcharski, Hoyt Hurt, Kelly Keltihg, Ginny Kim, and Eulalia Ralph.

On Veterans’ Day, November 11, we will cease play at 11 a.m. to honor our esteemed veterans and enjoy refreshments.

Your pickleball committee has been busy all summer planning autumn and winter events, kicking off the season’s festivities with our annual Halloween Costume Robin Tournament and let’s call it what it is, Feast. The costumes are sensational and there’s something about a couple pirates taking down Frankenstein and a zombie on the pickleball court. Last year’s event was a huge hit, so watch for specifics on this years’ tournament on Halloween weekend.
