SALUTE TO SERVICE WEEK AT BSM…HONORING THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED, SUPPORTING THOSE WHO CONTINUE TO SERVE
This Veterans Day, Burnt Store Marina is coming together for something bigger than any one event, venue, or organization.
Throughout the community, Burnt Store Marina Country Club, BSM Fitness Center, Cass Cay, The Trading Post, and Platinum Point Yacht Club are joining forces to create a week of activities dedicated to honoring the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our country.
Salute to Service Week at BSM is built around a simple idea: when our community comes together, we can do more to recognize our veterans, and make a meaningful difference for those who have served.
While details are still being finalized, the week will feature a variety of opportunities for residents to participate, celebrate, remember, and give back. Among the planned activities is a Walk of Honor, giving our community an opportunity to recognize the veterans we have known and loved, and honor the service and sacrifices they have made. That will include signs posted throughout the community November 6 through November 15.
1. On Friday, November 6, the BSM Fitness Center will host a 5K Run/Walk, inviting residents of all ages and abilities to get active, while supporting a meaningful cause. That same evening, Cass Cay Restaurant will host an Evening of Honor Dinner, offering a more social opportunity to come together, celebrate our veterans, and raise funds in support of the cause.
2. At Burnt Store Marina Country Club, a special Salute to Service Golf Tournament on Saturday, November 7 will bring golfers together in the spirit of camaraderie, competition, and appreciation.
3. The celebration will continue Sunday, November 8, with a Cruisin’ for a Cause Car Show at Platinum Point Yacht Club, providing another opportunity for neighbors to gather, enjoy the day, and support our veterans.
4. The week will conclude on Wednesday, November 11 — Veterans Day — with a special Veterans Day Breakfast at the Trading Post, giving our community one final opportunity to come together and honor those who have served our country.
And while each event has its own personality, they will all share a common purpose. As part of Salute to Service Week, the BSM community will be raising funds in support of the Military Heritage Museum in Punta Gorda, an organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories, experiences, and sacrifices of those who have served our nation. We will also be collecting needed goods for Veteran’s Village in Punta Gorda, providing an opportunity for residents to contribute tangible items that can directly benefit local veterans.
This effort is about more than one day on the calendar. It is about recognizing the veterans who are part of our own Burnt Store Marina community, remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and supporting organizations that continue to serve veterans right here in Southwest Florida. Most importantly, this is an intra-community effort. Our restaurants, recreational facilities, fitness center, golf club, yacht club, and residents are all contributing in different ways, but we are working toward the same goal: to honor, remember, and celebrate those who have served our country.
We hope our residents will join us throughout the week, whether by participating in an event, attending a meal or activity, walking or running, displaying a veteran’s name during the Walk of Honor, donating needed goods, or simply sharing a heartfelt thank-you with a veteran in our community.
