As many of our seasonal members and friends begin the trek back to their northern homes, we want to wish you a safe and wonderful summer! Don’t forget that you can take a piece of the Club with you. Be sure to visit our Video Library to keep up your routine while you’re away.
A huge thank you to our seasonal instructors for their incredible energy this year: Val Harding, Stephanie Itzen, Julie Kohner, Pam Lorning, and Linda Wittig. Your classes have been fantastic, and our full-time staff truly appreciated the helping hand. Glenna Benson and her family are safely back in Canada and she will be missed.
TENNIS
The BSM tennis community held its annual All About the Love tournament and social event on March 1. We had 45 people attend the event, with 28 participating in the tennis Mixed Doubles Tournament. The tournament was divided into two divisions, with Tom Siebert and Kim Behney as winners of the Pegula Division, and Jerry Kopp and Pam Yarosh as winners of the Keys Division. Pegula Division consolation winners were Joe Gelormini and Barb Perrott, and Keys Division consolation winners were Clif Behney and Jane Hayton. It was a fun day on the courts with everyone cheering each other on and gathering after the tournament for some delicious food.
Congratulations to the BSM Marina Gals for their first-place win in the 70+ division, and to BSM Simply Smashing for their first-place win in the 3.0 division of the Charlotte Country 50+ Tennis League. Congratulations to all the BSM tennis teams as they complete the 2025/2026 season of league play. With five men’s teams and seven women’s teams, the BSM courts stayed busy with matches or practices scheduled Monday through Friday all season long.
PICKLEBALL
The group held their first MLP Pickleball Tournament on March 21. It was a picture-perfect day and lots of great competitive pickleball was played by all the teams.
We’d like to welcome our new secretary, Laurie Hilaby, and thank Beverly Gibson for her service. Big, tall greeting to our new Chairman Bob Honcharski and at-large member Kelly Keltig. We have a new session of our popular line dancing class in May. Check at the desk for details.
Calling all Fitness Center gals! Let us help you take your gym friendships off the courts and into the community. We have monthly get-togethers on the first Wednesday afternoon. This month we are meeting on Cuatro de Mayo, the 4th of May, at Cass Cay at 1:15 p.m. Sign up at the front of the gym.
